Bon Iver - Towers

Towers by Bon Iver

3...according to our on Fri 20 Jan, 2012.

You should see the size of this run out groove. It is definitely the biggest run out groove I've ever seen. Why oh why is this on 12” vinyl - the track is 3 minutes long. Utterly preposterous. Though at £4.09 it doesn't cost much more than a 7”. Ok it's a daft waste of resources - couldn't they have etched it or something? The track is the usual disappointing fare from the squeaky voiced one. Nothing he does makes me think of anything other than meh its ok - not sure about his voice. If you took the music press at their word you'd think he was the new Paul Simon or something. The flip has another long run out groove (if not quite as long), its a John Prine cover - it's nice enough with triple, quadrupled vocals and some nice arranging.  Liked this better than the A side actually - good organ. Still its not really my 'thing' at the moment.

• Bon Iver’s second album ‘Bon Iver’, released on 4AD in June 2011, debuted at #4 and reached Gold (100,000) sales in the UK. Following the remarkable elevation in his worldwide profile (not to mention four Grammy nominations), Bon Iver will release the single ‘Towers’, following the success of ‘Calgary’ and ‘Holocene’.

•    The B-side of this 12” features the Bon Iver take on John Prine’s classic ‘Bruised Orange (Chain Of Sorrow)’, previously only available on the John Prine tribute compilation ‘Broken Hearts & Dirty Windows’.
