Well we've got a promo of this but it's got those twatty promo voiceovers all over it which makes listening to it rather irritating. Also we've lost the remote control for the CD player and as I'm nearly 40 years old and incredibly lazy I refuse to get up to flip through the 22 tracks here . The opening track by Distal is bloody great like, breakin' future electrotech with this pure deep brooding bass underpinning it. After that I'm refusing to shift my ass, you got soundclips and a tracklisting there, what more you want huh? Also if you don't realise what blooming excellent taste this Bristol bass music zen-meister has then you shouldn't even be reading this. This mix is the first cutting edge bass music mix of 2012 and will make you look uber-cool when you're cruising around Essex in your convertible gas guzzling hot-rod. After the Optimo one, the Surgeon one and the Shackleton one, this comes weighing in really high in the Fabric mix charts for people like me who don't really like typical “dance” music.
• One of the key figures in bass music’s evolution would have to be Bristol’s Rob Ellis, better known simply as Pinch. His fascination with what the outer limits of the dub sound can achieve has defined the so-called Bristol sound.
• ‘FABRICLIVE 61’ combines a blend of melodic mood-pieces, driving dub techno and the odd mid- range bass wobble masterfully planted to maximum effect. Layered throughout with subtle sounds, textures and hits, giving further depth and coherence, the mix begins and ends at the same point, allowing the mix to be played as a continuous loop, typical of Pinch’s innovation and attention to detail.
