Barbados! - Adagio For Bones (CD)

Pioneers of the nascent "Coffin Gaze" scene that's currently infecting the bedrooms and back rooms of Southern England, Barbados! strike a radically obtuse pose. Born out of carefully crafted mixtapes and a penchant for 70s/80s horror film scores, this is music for the hinterlands; an amped up, disharmonic gathering storm. Like all Coffin Gaze there's no adherence to rhythm here - swathes of near-to-collapse synths and keys dominate the soundfield, arpeggios peak through and dissolve - the horror is implicit: see the video which accompanies this release, at once playful and genuinely eerie. Witch House this is not, but rather something for long rambles at midnight, flickering torch in hand, chill wind at your back. References to the ghastly emanations of Italian splatter-synth maven Fabio Frizzi and the lo-fi maladies of Mudboy would not be out of place. A stunning debut. Track Listing : 1.
