Born: Helsinki, 1976, Graduated in Music at the Uni there in 2008, having maintained and developed the studios and teaching the students & staff. He’s now based in England. At age 2, he used to shout “Kaivuu!” (‘Echo!’) at Railway Tunnels. Piano lessons from 1983. Influences ‘Nineteen’ by Paul Hardcastle & ‘SAW II’ Aphex Twin. Signed by Rephlex 1997. Three albums as Ovuca, two as Astrobotnia. ‘MENTAL UNION’ is the third under his own name. Half of this album was released as MP3 only via Rephlex’s exclusive independent download store on Xmas day, 2009. Achieving 2500 downloads in that first month, it has both warmed and rocked many a club and festival around the world since. But ‘The Best’ has been waiting in the wings, a second part, this time exclusively on CD (packaged with a copy of Part One, 25 tracks in total @ 2 hours), containing by far his best work, an album which would undoubtedly feature in the top 10 all-time Rephlex releases. An album with beats that has an overall ambient, benign feel. An electronic theory album concentrating on microtonal frequencies and pure sine waves that appears to come straight from the heart of Mother Nature. My kids love this. Their Grandad loves it. And everybody in between, that we have met. Time to stop reading this and start listening!
