Autumnal Activities by Pye Corner Audio With The Advisory Circle

4...according to our on Fri 18 Nov, 2011.

The latest in the Ghost Box Study Series comes from the previously unknown (to hopeless old me anyway) Pye Corner Audio (mmmm pye)  - the A side he does all by himself, the B side enlisting assistance from Norman Records faves The Advisory Circle. A side 'November Sequence' is excellent just what you might expect from this series i.e 1970's style electronic nostalgia deep lush synthesizers, haunting Boards of Canada atmospheres  - pretty much the soundtrack to some terrifying childrens TV show about substations or concrete. On the flip we get a chord sequence almost exactly like something so familiar I just can't place it with a big obvious 70's squelshy synth line placed on top. A little too knowingly retro perhaps but if you are wanting some kind of fake 70's TV theme for a short lived Johnny Ball science vehicle then it sure hits the mark  - I have to say there is some slick synth work on offer  -nimble fingers.

Ghost Box is proud to present the next title in the ongoing series of
7" singles called The Study Series. These feature new work from the
Ghost Box artists together with collaborations and contributions from
a variety of guest artists. The title of the Study Series and Julian
House's luxurious packaging design are inspired by a series of BBC
schools albums from the 1970s of the same name.

Study Series 07: “Autumnal Activities”

This is the first release on the label for Pye Corner Audio. The work
of former studio engineer, Martin Jenkins, is an ideal fit for the
world of Ghost Box. The B side is a collaboration with The Advisory
Circle.
