The Lost Cavalry - Snow City Radio

Snow City Radio by The Lost Cavalry

London‐based alt‐folk collective The Lost Cavalry was formed in 2009 by Mark West, formerly the
guitarist in Fanfarlo. Following their highly praised debut EP Waves Freeze To Rolling Hills, their new EP
Snow City Radio is released November 21st on their own Two Six Heave label and will be available
digitally and on CD in beautiful arctic packaging.
Having the same otherworldliness as their first EP, Snow City Radio unfolds a collection of four new
heartfelt folk ditties. Brimming with inviting melodies, thoughtful lyrics, and carefully orchestrated
treats, The Lost Cavalry’s well‐crafted songs are a thing of beauty. With an incredible instrumental
prowess, the band delivers sharp and insightful instrumentation: concertina, ukulele, bass, drums,
guitar, cello, glockenspiel, piano, synths and samplers.
Swirling melodies, a certain soothing sweetness with captivating and spirited storytelling, Snow City
Radio is both a melodic and narrative gem.
Snow City Radio ‐ A song about a radio station frozen deep in the Arctic, featuring the 'megashaker', 'ba
ba ba' backing vocals, plenty of foot stomping and about twenty types of drums, shakers and other
clattery things. As with all the songs on the new EP, guest Cello is played by the talented Derek Yau.
Desert Tracks  ‐  Inspired by an old article about horses who were taken down to Namibia during the
South African war for use by the German Cavalry, Desert Tracks is a song about abandoned diamond
mines, Namibia, sand and horses.
The Tower  ‐ Last Christmas, when flying above Manhattan, Mark thought about what shape the island
must be underneath all the buildings and all the tubes, pipes and wires that must wind through it in
layers, with no one knowing where they lead or what they were originally for.
The Flood  ‐  The story of a town deliberately flooded to create a new Venice, the end of The Flood
features the vocals of the many people who kindly recorded themselves for The Lost Cavalry and
emailed the results in. It's people from all around the world who have never met, singing 'la la la'
together.
