Arev Konn - Norbotten

Arev Konn is Antony Harrison, who also goes by the names Konntinent and Paco Sala. On this 3” CD, the latest in Hibernate's consistently relaxing series, he's doing minimal synth tinkling in three parts. Opener 'Starets' has a smooth mid-end drone laid across erratic high end chimes, before what sounds like an actual piano plays a few tasteful chords and then some crunchy grumbles are introduced towards the end. The second track is structured around a repeated glitch like a skipping CD, as smooth meditative guitar and piano play spaciously and wistfully. On the third there's static and warm vinyl crackle as string samples from an old record drift in and out and a decaying piano tinkles away mournfully. This is my favourite track on here, but each one of them is interesting and relaxing. Another winner from this excellent series of releases.

Antony Harrison is the London based musician behind Arev Konn as well as two other projects, Konntinent and Paco Sala. Since 2009 he has released work on various labels including Home Normal, Digitalis, Sonic Pieces and Sweat Lodge Guru.
