Jilk - Carry On!

Carry On! by Jilk

3...according to our on Thu 03 Nov, 2011.

We got a few CD's in this week on the Bit Phalanx label. One of which is for charidee and this is t'other one. A CD by Jilk who I've not heard of before but after a bit of digging this appears to be his debut physical release which explains why I've not hear from him before. What you get is 6 tracks of clicky melodic electronica with hints of early Four Tet and a slight Burial-esque vibe. Well not all the tracks are like that... 'Man Up, Yeah' is a much more straight forward slightly twee indie thing. There's lots of piano in there, some glitchyness, vocals (by Coppe & Neil Gay) and more things too. Plus you get a bonus 24 minute track at the end which I define as the definition of generous. lovely!

Bristol based glitch-folk/electronica producer Jilk releases his biggest production to date, and debut physical release on the Bit-Phalanx label. 'Carry On!' features a five track collection of all new, tender and textured epics with a penchant for the climactic, and includes a wide array of guest collaborations; including the "legendary godmother of Japanese Electronica", Coppe'. Also featured on the CD edition is an exclusive additional 24 minute suite compiled from nine previously unreleased, archived and restored tracks, dating from 2006 to 2011, delivering an entire album's worth of material, neatly packed into one EP.

Tracklisting:

1. Severely Lacking Reset
2. Many Up, Yeah?
3. Dusty Tapes and Nuclear Raindrops (ft. Coppe')
4. Shhh!
5. Pawed Into
6. Dusty Archive* (Exclusive 24 minute suite of nine unreleased, archived and restored pieces, 2006-2011)
