Crash of Rhinos are a band I've already encountered a few times in the past, and I checked out this record on bandcamp or soundcloud or something a few months back, but it's great to finally be hearing this on a decent stereo. These guys rock the indiemo stylings like it's 1999, with a very clear debt to the likes of Braid and Spy Versus Spy, with lumbering bass and twinkling guitars over scattershot drums and heart-on-sleeve impassioned vocals. These classicmo sounds are dear to me and they nail the formula pretty well. The drummer's really impressive actually, I think it's him who really elevates this band to the epic heights they reach at their best moments. Other bands I reckon these guys have probably been listening to include Boilermaker and And None Of Them Knew They Were Robots. There's ex-Little Explorer members involved here too, I believe. The seven tracks we've got here are fairly long and more than a little epicmo in places, with some gang vocals in the louder bits. These guys are super. Oldskoolmo representing.
