This chaps name some of you may recognize as a member of Emeralds. While fellow band Members Mark McGuire and John Elliot's solo outings have been much celebrated, Hauschildt's solo work has largely remained under the Radar. I guess that is about to change as this record he's made for Kranky has some outstanding moments of breathtaking beauty. Armed with his banks of synthesizers he's created some of the most gorgeous electronic music I've heard in some time, every tone sparkles with warmth and emotion. Despite the creative process, it is very human music. It's difficult to pick out individual tracks as the album works beautifully as a whole but 'Blue Marlin' is stupendously soul stirring as is the super celestial 'Stare Into Space' which is as cosmic as its title suggests. A fantastic album of epic synthesizer orchestrations that's obviously highly recommended.
