CAKE - John McCrea (Vocals/Piano/Nord), Vincent DiFiore (Trumpet/Euphonium/Keyboards), Xan McCurdy (Guitar/Synthesizer) and Gabriel Nelson (Bass/Guitar/Rheem/Bandalero) will be returning to Europe to tour behind Showroom of Compassion. Prior to three sold out shows in London, Paris and Amsterdam during March 2011,CAKE had not been to Europe since 2006 or the UK since 2007. The band is very much looking forward to introducing the new tracks to their very patient European fan base. Said John McCrea, "We look forward to returning to Europe. There is no good excuse for such a long absence." Concurs Vince DiFiore "It's good for our spirits to leave the customs and conventions of the U.S. behind for a short time, and to gain perspective. Performing for European audiences again
reminds me of the importance of being a citizen of the world."
Showroom of Compassion was released on May 27th in Europe via Naïve and will be coming out on October 24th. The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard chart when it was released in America, and was met with rave reviews from critics in both the US and Europe with Les Inrockuptibles calling Showroom "Cool Californian elegance personified," Entertainment Weekly touting the album as “remarkably fresh” and The Los Angeles Times claiming that “Showroom of Compassion sounds nurtured into its ideal state.” The band have also been welcomed on Late Night television with appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night Jimmy Fallon and Conan.
Showroom Of Compassion is CAKE’s sixth studio album, and their first record of new material since 2004’s Pressure Chief. The album was recorded over the course of two and a half years and was produced and engineered by the band at CAKE's own solar electric powered studio in Sacramento, CA.
