The debut self-titled album from Swedish duo eleventhfloorrecords effortlessly projects an external shimmer while retaining an emotional warmth. This juxtaposition often yields some very special moments of wide-screen bliss. While eleventhfloorrecords undeniably tread similar ground to artists such as M83, Maps or Jatun the duo tend to approach it in a way that allows a clearer and more concise use of guitar that are cleverly combined with chillwave style synthlines. There is an even stronger link to that fraternity of synth heavy shoegaze by way of Jatun main man Scott Worley's work behind the mixing desk. eleventhfloorrecords is the Swedish duo of Niso and Henke. The two met back in highschool in their home town where they played in various bands and projects. By late summer of 2000 it was time for each of them to move to Malmo for college where they decided to move in together. This student apartment was on the eleventh floor. While at school the duo continued to record music on what limited resources they had albeit separately. At this early stage they would listen to each others' recordings constantly. This continuous exposure to the other's music, meant that slowly but surely they started to influence each others' musical output. Upon listening to eleventhfloorrecords it would be hard to tell that the duo do not actually work together when creating music and it is this early influence of each others music that has contributed to elevethfloorrecords homogeneous sound. Back in early 2006 they finally found a channel for their music to meet a "broader" audience in the form of myspace. Through this forum they found further inspiration both through direct feedback from listeners and contacts with other musicians and producers. This is where they met Scott Worley of Jatun. Worley put the band in touch with the n5MD imprint and in the winter of 2010 they inked a deal with the label that also will find Worley in the chair of Producer to further nurture their sound of modern electro driven shoegaze. Their extraordinary project name has more often than not been misinterpreted as people generally assume it to be a record label. The "eleventhfloor" of course refers to the location of the apartment were it all began. And "records" as the duo put it “alludes to its meaning as an endless formless collection of sounds and events”.
