Do you know when you hear a song for the first time, and it instantly reminds you of summat else? This newie from Lake District-dwelling James Bennett is a quite fragile shuffle. A shuffle that for some bizarre reason made me think of T.T.-Darby's rather memorable “Sign Your Name”...is this a bad thing? Well I reckon the judge and jury are still out on this one. This song “Black Cloud” is pretty good. It might actually be one of the more enjoyable songs about depression that I've heard. It has a really nice shuffle that sounds brilliant and is very understated. He's got quite a nice voice has this Bennett guy and his fragility sounds quite endearing. The flipside is called “Raining At The Crossroads” and it also has a certain charm and memorable quality...it didn't make me want to sing “...Sign Your Name...” which I kind of liked, but also found myself yearning for T.T. Darby's velvet tones. A promising single from a promising artist...
