The elusive LosBud imprint is back after almost four years, returning with two classic remakes of two equally timeless tunes of the the late 80s / early 90s nexus of modern electronica. Bass Music’s rewiring of house and garage in its contemporary form has managed to fuse to and reinvent many of the other genres around it, with results that often raise the question of what these original elements might sound like had their original creators been doing their pinnacle work in modern times. With this plate, DFRNT opens a window onto two of those possibilities, as his effortless yet ingenious treatment of each seems to fit so perfectly to the original frameworks. In doing so, he succeeds where many fall short, in respectfully manipulating a pair of classics into new forms that become strong candidates for direct alternatives to, and perhaps even advancements on the originals.
