Let Me Be The One You Call On / You Got Me Singing by Frank Eddie

I once suggested years ago that Lemon Jelly should stop making music and just concentrate on their artwork...well...they have now launched their own label Impotent Fury and of course the packaging is great  - so much so, I couldn't get the record out of the package. The music is an excellent mishmash of all kinds of styles  - starting off with what we think is a Talking Heads sample, with a bit of Cameo style funk, it has that hint of melancholy all good hip hop should have but as it wears on it suddenly gets very excited with uplifting soulful lady vocals. A man is repeatedly telling me to clap my hands - don't worry I can assure you they are clapping. An MC joins the party late on, they sound like are all having a whale of a time. The B side sounds a bit more like Lemon Jelly with rolling acoustic guitar chords, supremely tuneful but nicely there are some sampled (?) soul type wailings in there to keep it from being too pastoral.
