Slit Jockey is the “other” label operated by Starkey, Dev79 and El Carnicero, in parallel Seclusiasis; Slit Jockey‘s recent releases by Stagga, Sduk and Kaiser have been scorching the palettes of taste makers everywhere. In the last few months they’ve had tons of messages asking when this ‘Wild For The Night’ tune is dropping, and now the time has finally come for the beast to be unleashed on turntables and soundsystems everywhere. The two Stagga originals here are heat rocks in the street bass style of kitchen sink aesthetics, taking nods from dubstep, grime and rap all bashed together in way that is undeniably Stagga. These tracks have already seen heavy play from Gaslamp Killer, Starkey, Eprom, Kozee and much early blog support. Berlin’s prolific Robot Koch amps things up with his stomping refix of ‘Wild For The Night’, and San Francisco’s DNAEBEATS flips a serious head nodder remix on ‘Be The Generals’. Stagga’s debut album ‘The Warm Air Room’, recently released on Rag & Bone, has just been nominated for the 2011 Welsh Music Prize, and this follows a slew of successful singles including the download classic ‘Genik Riddim’ on Slit Jockey last year. He’s appeared on Ministry Of Sound compilations, toured the world, and his releases for the likes of Rag & Bone, Subdepth and Chrome Kids have had the support of Mary Anne Hobbs, Daedelus, Surgeon, Hatcha and N-Type.
