Washington DC's Dot Dash have got members of Julie Ocean and their drummer Danny Ingram has played in both Youth Brigade and Swervedriver. This here CD's got 14 songs which they recorded over the course of three afternoons. They play jangly indie pop with one foot on either side of the Atlantic, mixing mod and britpop influences with a dose of summery slacker rock. The songs are pretty simple here, and the catchy melodies are pretty constant, but the recording does have a bit of a demo-ish feel to it, presumably since it was recorded at a rate of nearly five songs per day! Can't grumble about that at this price, though, and the songwriting here is pretty uplifting. The whole thing's got quite a post-grungey mid-'90s feel about it, I can see these guys going down pretty great in 1995. If you can imagine it, picture The La's playing slowed down Marked Men songs. That's the vibe I'm getting here.
