Well this is sonically what I'd initially call a dirge. A mulch of doomy feedbacking cello, churning industrial soundscapes, groaning instruments and fluttering electronics. So I smoked a fag and drank half a can of cider and it became clear that this was sounding great actually, thanks very much! It's quite a druggy sound this extended collective arrive at within the first few minutes. A shifting murk that works in kind of the same way Bardo Pond's best records do. There's so many textures and drones (e)merging it sounds like the bowels of the earth being sucked like ectoplasm into another dimension through the spirit of an orchestra on Mogadon. Then, suddenly, comes the hellish power electronics scree that recalls John Weise or Prurient. I forgot one of these people was in recently departed noisy Finnish tykes Pan Sonic!! Afterwards we get truly catapulted on a journey into the unknown, check the avant-garde percussive onslaught which is quite gorgeous, intimate clattering and tinkling on all manner of instruments, real or imagined. Next up android electronic frequencies and unnerving aural mechanics take the stage for quite a while: atmosphere-drenched experiments in noise and sound that suggest infinite space but sound weirdly intimate like Jack Danger's more out-there space exploration or the Radiophonic Workshop for a future insular generation. There's a lot to take in on first listen - this seems like a very dynamic sounding improv album that dares to veer into rarely tramped territory at the drop of a hat and carries many surprises with it...
