After the two-headed space-kraut mind-melt that was Frozen Geese's last vinyl outing, the band has stripped down to a duo for this latest side-project which offers here its take on more tripped-out kosmische synth worship and minimalist hypno-kraut. But of course this is Lazonby and fellow miscreants we're dealing with here so nothing is particularly normal about this. The opener keeps on threatening to take off with escalating judders of low-end constantly swelling from under the caresses of some lovely analogue bloopery. The pulsing Neu-like 'Banishing Ritual' is quite the spectacular epic which unravels over the course of nearly 13 minutes, taking in grainy feedback drones, psychedelic wah-wah exploration and what could be a cosmic clarinet? This is a right CD, by halfway through I'm in love with proto-electro sounds on here - 'Crying Out of Both Eyes' is the most lovely, poignant tune, coming across like an-end-of-the-pier take on Fuck Buttons with a song that duo were too gormless to write. The heavily deranged 'Maharishikesh' may just send you a bit mad (but in a nice way) and to finish we have a piece of cool vintage DIY techno called 'Psychic Marmalade'. Sounds a bit like one of the older Sleeparchive tracks with added Northern cyber-disco eccentricity!!
3eese’s self-titled debut album does not contain the unique, psychedelic songs of Geese, or the full band experimental space /kraut /psych musings of Frozen Geese, yet it is still the work of Graham Bailey and David Lazonby. This largely electronic, full length album seems to incorporate/ advocate meditation, devil worshipping and planetary migration.Cool…
