Rural sophistication from this Detroit based pop chaunteuse. Over the last three years Shara Worden( the name of the artist using the My Brightest Diamond moniker) has been crafting this sumptuous collection of songs with the aid of the celebrated chamber ensemble Y Music (who have worked with Bon Iver, Rufus Wainwright to name but two). My Brightest Diamond have shades of Roberta Flack, Regina Spektor and mebbe even Edith Pfaff. This record has sent tongues wagging across the pond and by all accounts its highbrow compositions and heady chamber style arrangements will delight and enchant many a beard rubber every where. This is an ambitious work and if you like the tones of Shara Worden she can also be found on Sufjan Stevens 'The Age Of ADZ'. But don't buy that record, BUY THIS ONE. For fans of Labradford or mebbe Silver Mount Zion. Sophistication.
