Real Estate - It's Real

Love this single. One of the best pieces of music I've heard in a long time. If you're a fan of Real Estate's debut on Woodsist then I'm sure you've been waiting as patiently as I for a proper follow-up LP. 'Reality' kept me ticking over nicely but this is absolutely outrageous!!! If you don't know what to expect then you wanna get online and start researching but basically we're talking purist jangly indiepop at it's most concentrated and refined. Courtney's songwriting is coming on (real) nice and 'It's Real' is as much proof as you'll ever need of Real Estate's potential longevity. Courtney is ably backed by trusted buddies and long time musical allies Matt Mondanile (Ducktails) and Alex Bleeker (of Alex Bleeker And The Freaks a.k.a the new Crazy Horse) who weave a laid back psychedelic tapestry to compliment Matt's nostalgia inducing, melancholic vocal. As with any great single I've ever obsessed over, it's impossibly hard for me to pin down what makes it so awesome as I'm just too overwhelmed by the sheer class of it. For all you kids/adult's mourning the loss of R.E.M, a suitable replacement is sitting here waiting for you. And all you other kids out there hoovering up fellow New Jersey band The Feelies represses, make sure you save £3.79 for this little beauty.  Oh, and there's a B-side too. 'Blue Lebaron' is one of those fantastic country tinged instrumentals that these lads could write in their sleep and brings to mind barefoot walks on the beach and that tickling feeling you get when a wave just catches the end of your tip-toe's. It's the perfect economical compliment to the pop majesty of the A-side. I hope we sell a million of these. Domino's wisest signing in years.
