Where is Ant when you need him? We all have our expertise here at Norman Records and it seems this week I'm taking on the chunk normally handled by the 'Wild Man of Menston'. He'd be able to tell you exactly what these lot have been listening to to create this swirl of '80s funk and exactly how it sits in with the current 'scene' and whether you'd like it. All I'm able to stumble out is...sounds a bit '80s Detroit House. There's some Arthur Baker production stylings end funky bass and the synth washes are pure mid-period New Order. The second track is exactly the type of tune Alexander O'Neal would have glided his honeyed vocals over in '88. Does that help?
Hotflush Recordings presents the first new Scuba single since 2010’s landmark album, Triangulation. Since that release Scuba has
concentrated more squarely on deep, epic house and techno via the SCB project, most notably with Loss released earlier this year on
Aus Music. That focus extends itself to the lead track of this release, Adrenalin, which must be the most unashamedly dancefloor
Scuba track to date, while b-sides Never and Everywhere take the well-documented fascination with melody that pervaded previous
Scuba material to a new level.
