Yet another blinder from Ekoplekz which is his second release for Bristol's awesome Punch Drunk label and follows up on a previous limited edition 12" for the label as well as a couple o' killers on Mordant Music. The fourteen tracks here showcase the Ekoplekz sound in all its ace glory. Shifting from primitive/vintage analogue electronic music sounds circa BBC Electronic Workshop analogue bleeps through to more post-dubstep flourishes. As with previous releases what is particularly prevalent is the slightly decayed futuristic sound. You almost get the feeling you could have discovered this record whilst crate digging in Kingston in the year 2020. Post industrial electronics are deployed with lashings of reverb, decay, etc. creating a metallic, raw and rough landscape to become immersed within. Ekoplekz has an endearing natural live and on the fly sound which is rare in electronic music these days. A testament to his hardware/non-computer ruling based set-up. Things chug, whistle and reverberate with all manner of slightly awkward rhythms in a most fantastic way. A future-dub extravaganza that at several times recalls Cabaret Voltaire when they were in cyber dub mode combined with the freedom of Conrad Schnitzler's more out there free moments. Heavy and cavernous unique future bass audio. Buy on sight.
