This CD was recorded 3 days after the first explosion at the Fukushima Nuclear power plant in Japan in March this year. It's only been for two minutes and it sounds like loads of neutrons and photons smashing against things in a haphazard kind of way. It's intense! But then you'd expect that of Merzbow as his music is always intense and pretty much the exact opposite of easy listening. The first track on this is just under 30 minutes long and it's an epic journey through power electronics and insanely harsh music. As much as I'd never ever listen to anything like this at home you've got to admire the fact that he's out there doing this kind of thing. It's just totally brutal and for a man who's anti nuclear power, anti killing animals and whatever else he's anti, he makes just about the harshest music known to man. Having said that the second and third tracks are reasonably easy going...they're still rabid and all over the shop but they're not too hard on the ears. Well maybe they are but I'm just getting used to 'em. I will say it's worth listening to with headphones on as you get the full force of what was intended!
