Vile Imbeciles - D Is For W

D Is For W by Vile Imbeciles

The forth and least confusing album to date from the seemingly genre-defying Brighton-based rockers Vile Imbeciles (otherwise known as “VI” for the purposes of the current release).Vile Imbeciles have always sat uncomfortably on the UK music scene. What has now grown into a unique blend of surrealist intelligent post funk played by stylish pretty boys in skinny jeans and big hair, has never really been stupid enough to explode onto the trendy London circles which their initial image opened the door to. And although it is clear from their new album “D is for W” that VI have now developed a technical ability and sophisticated songwriting style worthy of considerable acclaim to those-in-the-know, their extrovertly chaotic and no-nonsense balls-to-the-wall approach to performance has earned them varying degrees of misinterpretation from the ATP beard-stroking elite who should actually be welcoming them as the kings of a new musical era.Having earned their wings throwing discordant madness at the public, Vile Imbeciles return this year in complete reverse, with what can only be described on their terms as “pop music”.  Although intelligence and dexterity has always been a trademark of the VI sound, “D is for W” creates a subversive reality of catchy hooks, layered vocal harmonies (albeit with a subtle dissonance), and effortless cool. This is not a band that should be missed. This is a band that should be studied, preserved and engraved on the history of modern UK Rock. Pre-order their album today.
