Dropped this and we are straight into the mixer with a Music Convention's "Belly Board Beat" inspired freakout of epic proprtions. Wild beats, fuzz-fried guitars and sitars battle it out for sonic supremacy in what is one the liveliest tracks I've heard in some time. It sounds like Thee Oh Sees jamming with Dick Dale and Ravi Shankar on a space station orbiting some distant planet. Totally amazing! Flip it and it's a good times, 50's inspired doo-wop of the like Spectrals have been honing for sometime only this one's (practically) an instrumental (bar the odd cooed harmony) that focuses in on the whole Enchantment Under The Sea Dance meets the The Shadows vibe. Great 7".
The hot new shit from Music City! This second 7" slab from D. Watusi offers two instrumental numbers, each featuring a member of pre-eminent psychedelic sires the Paperhead. "Slave Walls" is inspired by the Music Convention's "Belly Board Beat" and is unparalleled thunderous drums, guitar freakout and sitar insanity. "Lilly's Lament" is cuddly, down-tempo vibes that make you wanna grab a malt with your main squeeze. These kids actually know what they're doing! beware!
