Hits Are For Squares, previously available only through limited outlets in the US, is a collection of songs from Sonic Youth's career curated by a diverse group of artists, actors, directors and musicians. Essentially a 'Best Of Sonic Youth', the band invited a stellar cast including Radiohead, Beck, Mike D (Beastie Boys), Eddie Vedder, Flea (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Gus Van Sandt and The Flaming Lips to pick their favourite Sonic Youth track for this compilation. Also included is the track “Slow Revolution” written and recorded for the original release and track-by-track notes with reasons for the choices behind the tracks.
