I love Strategy. Their 'Drumsolo's Delight' on Kranky is pretty much one of my favourite records of all time. Taking the dub of dub techno and erasing most of the techno it's the most beautiful laid back lovingly decayed, bass heavy electronica you are ever likely to hear. Subsequent releases have been of similar high quality but this latest is the most redolent of their work on Kranky. It's a two track slab of gorgeousness on clear vinyl limited to 200. Both tracks fit in superbly with their psyched out aesthetic. Opener 'Super Awareness is Fruit' starts with haunting Gas-like drones giving way to clipped bass and synth dub stabs. On the flip 'Ninety Degrees' uses super heavy bass pounding along side early Mouse on Mars like atmospherics and deeply layered underwater ambience. Clocking in at a full 20 minutes over the two pieces this is a must-have for any fans of dub heavy blissed out electronics.
