Vieo Abiungo is the work of one man, William Ryan Fritch, who creates semi-experimental neoclassical sound worlds for us to get lost in. Plays a lot of instruments, this lad. Loads. Opener 'With Each Forgetful Step...Progress' hints towards an almost Godspeed-esque chamber approach, but in the next track things are mixed up with beats coming to the fore a little before we slip into some dreamy neo-folk. It's a very musical record, this one. Everything is melodic and structured rather than relying on atmosphere and tone alone to hold the listener's attention, which gives it quite a filmic feel. Generally speaking this record straddles the gap between acid folk and neoclassical in a pretty relaxing but engaging way. I can see something like this being very welcome on a Sunday morning. It comes with a CD of remixes by a load of impressive names in packaging so pretty and delicate-looking that I daren't open it for a mere review.

The vinyl was mastered by Miles Whittaker (Demdike Stare). The remix cd was mastered by Nils Frahm. The remix cd features remixes from Jean Jeanrenaud (Kronos Quartet), Sven Kacirek, Benoit Pioulard, Part Timer (Upward Arrows), Nils Frahm, Field Rotation, Aaron Martin, Humble Bee, Need More Sources, Tokyo Bloodworm, Green Kingdom, Skyphone, and more.
