My Pale Garden by Acid Glasses

Acid Glasses is the work of Memphis resident Nick Burk who offers a slightly skewed take on modern psychedelia. This lush composition reminds me of summat like Epic 45 meets Animal Collective. It has a heady concoction of reverbs and loop delays all over the shop. It doesn't outstay its welcome, though its dense layerd sound is pretty concise. The flip-side has a more gentle, laid back feel. Not that the A-side was balls to the floor or owt. A name to look out for in the future and if this single is anything to go by, Acid Glasses will be tearing up many a dancehall dead soon. Psych on!!!!!

Most musical commentators see Memphis as a city of garage bands and a past that includes Elvis Presley, Stax Records and Big Star.
If they were to look a little closer, they would see that a new breed of artist is beginning to emerge from the shadows of the past. A
case in point is the project undertaken by Memphis native Nick Burk, who records under the name of Acid Glasses. Barely a year
old, this evolving ‘band’ have already gone through many changes, and have already begun to make an impact with their own
particular brand of twisted, modern psychedelia. As many as nine people have performed in the live incarnation of the band, but the
concept remains fluid, and the current line up is a duo.

Burk describes the sound thus: “Like a giant indoors, so vast you could never find the walls; like the sounds are not from the natural
world we all come from, at least if they ever were, they have certainly been made to adapt and evolve into a new reality. Cascading
noise-chords exist within these little sonic utopias that get set off by the vocals, pitched up and into harmony with the rest of the aural
terrain”.

The first A cid Glasses 7” single is the stunning ‘My Pale Garden’ c/w ‘Jpeg Hoarder’ and ‘Happy Accident’, which is released by
Stroll On/36 0 Degree Music on October 10th. The music press and blog world have already lit up and have showered Acid
G lasses with praise, here are a handful of quotes:
