Yeah, as soon as the needle hit the phat groove of this 12" I knew the ghost of Arthur Russell was in the building. Liquid Liquid have been mentioned too and once again, most apt, as here is a proper zinging retro floor muncher of seriously strutting cosmic house/disco that sounds pretty fresh regardless of its 30-plus year old span of influence. The rather different 'Way of Life' follows in a much more spangled neo-ambient disco manner. Nice atmosphere to this tune with some hearty nods as much in the direction of the late '70s early '80s German masters as the best Balearic and dreamy Italo DJs and producers. Back to the muscular NY punk-funk pastures for the annoyingly named 'Hypnogogisco'. This is proper trippy music with oh-so many sparkling dubbed-out effects zinging out of the speakers whilst a cymbal-tastic disco break and a fine moody bass-line taking you off the dancefloor of your mind into another Galaxy altogether. An excellent piece of music indeed. Climaxing with the slightly more downtempo and sedate 'What's Your Body Doing Tonight', this is early 80's electro-funk with a moderately paced aquatic groove and deep, spacey production values. This is easily one of the best Silks so far; four diverse, convincing tracks all offering something a little magical for your money.

New season action from 100% Silk, NEW pricing for these limited 12" releases...we dont get many, they dont last long...***"'Shadow Disco,' is a strut thru a parallel land where mirrors, glitter and dances are the holy sacraments of a mainstream religion whose father is Liquid Liquid (on a dubby bender), the son is Daniel Wang and the holy spirit Arthur Russell. On its journey it collects a thousand scuzz tropes and redistributes them across a skeletal groove so lazy, it makes E.S.G sound like a clinical minimal techno project devised by the appointed keepers of metronomic purity. Spectral hedonism, that's our new calling."-20 Jazz Funk Greats
