Night Gallery by Eternal Tapestry & Sun Araw

5...according to our on Thu 08 Sep, 2011.

This seems to be a bit of a week for very special collaborations, what with Wiltzie/O'Halloran's stunning A Winged Victory for the Sullen LP, the Picastro/Nadja collab LP and that Aaron Martin/Justin Wright insanity, and here's another extra special all star collaborative treat for our collective earholes. This time it's psych's golden boy Sun Araw jamming out with epic cosmic wailers Eternal Tapestry in a live session originally recorded for radio. As you'd expect from something recorded for radio, this is essentially a studio-quality release...in fact with all these lo-fi cosmic jammers doing the rounds it's better than some of the studio recordings I've heard lately. There's no meandering noodlings here, this is an LP of pounding spaced out grooves. Not riff-heavy as such but spacey and repetitive and melodic and just generally tasty as fuck. To be honest I'm pretty glad this has dropped because Business Lady and I have been experiencing a certain amount of Sun Araw-related frustration at having to see our entire first consignment of their new and allegedly amazing album come in and go out without getting to so much as crack open the cellophane on a copy because you rotters ordered too many. This bonged-out beauty will have to suffice until we can get the full 2LP fix next time those babies land. If you've enjoyed recent releases from White Hills, Cave and Causa Sui, this nugget will tickle your sweet spots fo' sho'.
