Cant is the solo pseudonym of Grizzly Bear drummer Chris Taylor and 'Dreams Come True' is his debut solo album. Also known for his lavish productions for Dirty Projectors, Jamie Lidell, Solange Knowles, Twin Shadow and Blood Orange amongst others, this Taylor lad is obviously a talented fella. 'Dreams Come True' is chocker with the kind of tasteful modern pop songs that seem to be informed by almost everything that's ever happened in pop history. I'm just two tracks in and I'm picking up elements of Prince, Peter Gabriel, 10CC and Supertramp as well as an obvious TV On The Radio influence. Taylor's production is unbelievably tasteful and his knack for concise rhythm tracks makes for a super slick experience that twists the principles of Soul, R'n'B and Funk into a hybrid form of pop music that is both emotionally poignant and out and out dancefloor friendly, at least in parts. Top it off with the assistance of Twin Sister as a backing group and a confident pop vocal and you've got yourself a winning formula. Certainly not Warp's finest hour but a worthy contender. Very chilled.

· Cant is currently in Hype Machine’s Top 10 most
blogged artists.
· Grizzly Bear’s last album, ‘Veckatimist’, was
certified silver in the UK.
