Here we have a repress of the third Woodsist release, recorded way back in the balmy days of '06. I don't know about you, but that was the craziest year of my life. What we've got here is some fuzzy, hazy, minimal psych of the highest order. It starts out a bit directionless for the first couple of minutes, but as soon as they hit a groove they have that muddy skronky brilliance that Woods show at their jammier moments. Generally speaking, what happens here is that there's a simple repeated piano melody holding things down while a heavily processed guitar chunters exploratively in the background in a mess of mid-end washes and overdriven haze. On the opening track of the second side it kind of sounds like they switch places, with an overdriven guitar taking on the monotonous riffing while the keys go for a walk. This is very much in drone/repeato-rock territory. Explorative psych that's best enjoyed lying in the grass with a greasy chong drooping from your chops rather than the harder rocking type. I like it.

RE-PRESSED!!! Blues Control is Lea Cho and Russ Waterhouse, a piano, guitar, and tapes duo from New York. Puff is their first full-length record, after two cassette-only releases. "Puff is the work of two modern gris gris chefs, and the most righteously authentic stoner gumbo this side of Twin Infinitives or Jungle Rot. Glittery framed sunglasses and doper's remorse. The finest racket of 2007 so far."-James Jackson Toth: so we'll ambulance chase this one down, as we missed it first times around... essential repress action!
