Brainbombs - Live Paris/ Sonic Protest 12-12-2008

Live Paris/ Sonic Protest 12-12-2008 by Brainbombs

4...according to our on Thu 04 Aug, 2011.

Another bout of sonic assault from everybody's favourite crazy Swedes (..."they're Norwegians Mac"...) no, they are from Sweden. This bootleg from 2008 has been unreleased, covered in a wooden packing crate in an undisclosed warehouse, with other lost and sought after artefacts like the Ark of the Covenant, Excalibur, Shergar and John Terry's talent. This record is a rough and ready sonic attack that has an abrasive live sound that threatens to flay the skin from your face. As a live band they are ferocious and unhinged. They hypnotise and terrify in equal measure. They sing about skinning people alive, skinning cats alive and and skimming milk alive. I just read an interview with one of the members of Brainbombs online and it's a proper must read. It's full of grunts and answers like (read this part in a ridiculously heavy Scandinavian tone) "....Brainbombs doesn't have time for feelings..." and who could forget the classic "....The USA is full of Americans, we won't go there...". Awesome .The details on this record are sketchy to say the least, it comes in a sleeve that will court controversy from some quarters (it's a monochrome-type picture of a woman in Victorian dress hanging by her Gregory Peck from a bridge...) but it's not that ermmm graphic...it's about as confrontational as a kitten in a bathrobe...or a pig in a sock. The music on the other hand is highly confrontational and edgy. It's pretty straight ahead in rhythmic terms, it's not changing time signatures all over the shop, it's a driving almost hallucinatory collection of sonic drudgery. It's limited to 300 copies and comes with a picture of Mel Gibson fisting Danny la Rue...now that's controversy. A pummeling attack that takes no prisoners...and if it does take prisoners, it probably treats them like  terror cell suspects in some awful interrogation camp. Heady stuff.

This unofficial release is limited to only 300 numbered copies.
Recorded live at La Maroquinerie, Paris (France) on 12/12/2008 during the Sonic Protest festival.
