These guys are an entertaining listen always. Heavily inspired by free improv, non-music and outsider folk frontiers, this duo had these mad sounds out on mega-limited cassette a couple of years back and how nice it is to get a chance to actually hear the most spiritual and evocative of flute playing mingling with what, at first, could only be described as random grumbling clattering chaos (which eventually evolves into freewheeling patters and rolls of percussion). It's a most rustic sound these two hit on, the wandering longing sound of the flute being a steady foil to the cavernous disembodied rattle of free percussion and hypnotic loops of woozy scree. This particular side concludes with a brilliant murky piece of drunken, intoxicating neo-psych that is easily the most interesting thing I've heard this week. Like early Gang Gang Dance in a gruesome witches cavern during a seance. Typically I now flip over to discover I've cleverly reviewed the second side but no mind as this one starts off with another bout of lopsided inquisitive flute topping an undercurrent of what sounds like a broken screen door rattling in the wind put through some slightly granular effect then looped. Various other organic drones and oddball effects are introduced into the mix to create an uneasy steadily evolving epic, not to mention some lovely snaky maracas at one juncture which add to the slightly sinister vibe of it all. Proper bizarre and compelling sound art here, not too avant-garde and punishing to alienate the psych-folk obsessives but easily experimental and startling enough to delight the noise and improv freaks!

Poisson was originally released by Rayon Recs in a run of 50 cassettes in 2009, hardly seeing the light of day before it sold out so we're extremely happy to be releasing it in a run of 500 heavyweight LPs with striking artwork by the band.
