Butcher Boy - Imperial

Imperial by Butcher Boy

3...according to our on Thu 01 Sep, 2011.

Damaged Goods are taking care of the third Butcher Boy album with 'Imperial' being a taster single of what's to come. It's classic Butcher Boy indie pop fare that in no way offends and, to an extent, impresses with its straightforward pop/rock template. Spiced up with a cheeky string arrangement, 'Imperial' almost reminds me of early Pinback with its motorik guitar line and the engulfing warmth of the vocal. Flip it and you get 'Juicy Fruit', an acoustic guitar led throwaway pop effort that overlaps the worlds of Belle And Sebastian and Canterbury folk with surprising ease. Chuck in a tasteful synth solo and you got yourself a classic not-overshadowing-the-a-side-but-still-decent b-side.

New Damaged Goods signings Butcher Boy release their third album ‘Helping Hands’ on the 29th August 2011, this single ‘Imperial’ will be out a week before on the 22nd August as a limited edition of 500 on 7” as well as digital. The single features the track ‘Imperial’ taken from the new album plus an excusive non-album b-side called ‘Juicy Fruit’ They are also making their second appearance in three years at the very lovely IndieTracks festival plus are about to announce a few more gigs around the country in the near future.
