Divorce - Love Attack / Meating

Fuck me. I was absolutely gutted when I heard Glasgow's insanely fine Divorce had split, losing barking rottweiler singer Sinead and one of the scratchy lasses on guitar. Options were tossed around and thank hell they opted to carry on with a new singer as a stripped down 4 piece because this new single is seriously absolutely amazing!!! New girl Jennie has a considerably different voice, more unhinged, yelpy and screechy - much less guttural - and the music seems to have evolved slightly without losing any intensity or ferocity whatsoever. Divorce's sound is still comprised of deranged wired art-punk, maybe less sludgy nae wave and more hotwired next-level shit and both songs here are somehow even more manic and addictive than their past recorded endeavours! No-one sounds quite like these Scots berserkers, they literally slay every venue they play in (slam-dancing moshpits in tiny Newcastle pubs on a rainy Wednesday night anyone?) and are widely regarded as one of the absolute premier underground UK bands right now. If you like the more shouty, possessed end of US influenced noise rock but demand a chunky staggering groove to get right into, you absolutely must buy this single!! In Andy Brown they've one of the moist gifted drummers in Scotland, energetically propelling this mad, bad feral sound and to top it, the new lass on vocals just totally enhances the beautiful cacophony, keenly marking her territory in Divorce V. 2.0. Much love to VSO and Vickie M for retaining that caustic but thrilling dynamic that is the bands hallmark. Get involved, I implore you all!
