Hoop Dreams - Xcpr

Guitar driven indie rock from these Virginians who by all accounts live within an Uzi shot of the Virginia Tech university. They have an art rock kind of feel, and they seem to know how to write a decent pop song. XCPR is quite a good song, it has more hooks than a fisherman and is a very upbeat urgent offering. The flip side hints at something a bit more experimental, it's called Memory Light and has synths and weird reverby drums and loose bass. It's very interesting and it's good to have different strings to your musical bows. It's a promising affair is this single, and I look forward to hearing more from these guys known as Hoop Dreams...

Hoop Dreams have managed to make an unlikely thing occur: A second C/T signing from Blacksburg, VA. Mining similar influences as their contemporaries, the young sextet bring an emotive and exciting sense of urgency to the table that only anticipates what should be a great debut LP. "There are relatively few labels left whose logo can be considered a true stamp of approval, but for many people Captured Tracks is one of those. Hoop Dreams fit perfectly into their roster; a band from Virginia that sound like they could be from Manchester, they make clattering, slightly neurotic pop songs in the vein of a deconstructed Cure." -The Line of Best Fit (Song of the Day)
