Ital - Only For Tonight

Only For Tonight by Ital

4...according to our on Thu 21 Jul, 2011.

Second drop from Daniel Martin-McCormick (Sex Worker/Mi Ami) for 100% Silk. The A-side uses a Candi Staton 'You've Got The Love' acapella/ sample over a track that shows he's been listening closely to, almost studying, Jamal Moss's productions. I fucking love Jamal Moss records so really I'm not sure what I make of this. It's a nice enough tune, even if the sample is a little played out. There was a tune on the recent Mi Ami 'Dolphins' EP that totally reminded me of Heiroglyphic Being too. I realise that being inspired by an artist is all good but blatantly biting Jamal's style is to me a pointless exercise. I'll try not to let it bother me too much, besides people buying this record will probably never of heard of him anyway. Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing Daniel, I like his records a lot, this track though is just too close to some records I hold sacred. Good things are happening on the flipside though, still on the retro tip but feeling super fresh, damn funky and built for maximum dancefloor pleasure.

Dont have full info on this burner yet, will resend when we do. New 12" from ITAL on 100% Silk (Amanda from not Not Fun's label). Hot and sticky humid DC nights. San Fran brotherly love bangers. You-Can-Have-It-All loftings in Brooklyn. Ital bounces between these like a mechanized conga beat, offering up the kind of cuts that make you move like the smoother, sweeter version of yrself.
