A Story Of Rats is the work of experimental musician and visual artist Garek Druss. You may be aware of Druss due to his involvement in Seattle duo Dull Knife and Portland's drone metal beats Tecumseh. 'Thought Forms' is his debut LP under his solo moniker and is a tour de force of dark ambient tones. Crafted using synths, voice, ghostly guitar murmurs and amplified paper and pencil (?) Druss has a crafted an otherworldly drone epic perfect for soundtracking your bleakest psychological moments. Evil, soundtrack-esque drones dominate 'Thought Forms' giving it an immersive industrial vibe that will haunt you long after the record is over. Perfect installation music that would most likely translate better with added visual stimulus. Still good on its own though. Comes in an ace screenprinted sleeve by Druss himself. He's fully hands on this lad.
Eiderdown Records is proud to present to you "Thought Forms", the debut vinyl album by A Story of Rats, the solo moniker of Seattle visual/musical artist Garek Druss.
A longtime denizen of the Northwest's noise and experimental music scene, Garek’s dark ambient sound-waves have graced stages, mossy basements, forests, cassettes, and CDRS, either thru his solo work as ASOR, performing in the “heavy mellow” Seattle duo Dull Knife and Portland's drone-metal titans Tecumseh, or as a frequent collaborator with Idaho’s Wolvserpent (formerly Pussygutt).
Utilizing an array of sounds including synths, voice, amplified paper & pencil, and a few sparse guest contributions of guitar and ghostly vocals, on Thought Forms Druss conjures up a sound both grim and captivating.
This limited edition (300 copies) vinyl LP comes on grey smoke color vinyl and is accompanied by amazing screen-printed sleeves and inserts designed by Garek Druss himself. Mastered for vinyl by the skilled hands of Mell Detmer.
