Brooklyn punkers Cerebral Ballzy have announced the release of their long awaited debut album of the same name on August 1st 2011. The beer swilling pizza-junkies have been touring relentlessly in the US, UK and Europe with bands such as OFF! and Fucked Up, marking their territory with an unforgettable live show in preparation for the unleashing of ‘Cerebral Ballzy’ (COOKCD542).
The album was recorded in LA with Joby J Ford, the man behind fellow hardcore enthusiasts Trash Talk. It’s faster than amphetamine-fuelled lightning and proof that for Cerebral Ballzy, the band is a necessity. These guys are kicking the shit back into the New York punk scene so hard they could probably single-handedly re-open CBGB’s and they don’t waste any time on the album, blasting through 12 songs in 19 minutes.
Frontman Honor Titus sets the mood in ‘On the Run’; he introduces the album snarling “I don’t wanna be like them, I refuse to be like them. I find myself constantly confronted with their failures.” What follows is a blink and you’ll miss it insight into life in the forgotten corners of New York City, tales of broken bones and broken homes. Cerebral Ballzy are making a loud noise drenched in beer and puke that’s demanding your attention. Thing is, they don’t care whether you give it to them, they’re having too much fun to stop anyway.
Their name is Cerebral Ballzy, which is neither big nor clever, and in being neither big nor clever, seems to do quite a good job of defining what one might describe as their essence.” The Guardian
