I LIKE TRAINS, once a band obsessed with history are now casting a wary eye on the future with one of the more direct moments on their second album ‘He Who Saw the Deep’: new single ‘Sirens’.
Narrative: Taking the famous Greek myth of the Sirens calling sailors to shipwreck as a metaphor for how the human race is unable to resist the lure of progress despite our growing knowledge of the damage being done in its name, Sirens doesn’t preach or judge, but simply accepts our fate and feelings of guilt as we appear powerless to affect change. The accompanying video takes a dark interpretation of the lyrics, showing the demons of a fisherman tormented by his urges, his dark fantasies and his guilt.
Released on 10” vinyl 'Sirens' is packed with the b-side Flood and previous single ‘A Father’s Son’ gets a physical release with ‘The Kingdom You Deserve’ completing the package. The digital version includes 2 remixes. 48K brings in a Breakbeat/ Dub step version and Dave De Rose (Producer and Roisin Murphy/Moloko collaborator) offers his own rhythmical take.
