Indian Wars - Walk Around The Park

YEEEEEHAAAWWWWW!!!! We're having a hoedown (almost) in the office. We've cast bits of straw about the place. We're all wearing dungarees. Some of us have pigs under our arms (put that sow down, Brian). We're drinking moonshine and chewing tobaccy. We're telling women to shut up. We're looking lovingly at our sisters. We keep city folk chained up in the shed and we take turns in making them squeal like piggies. The music for this hellish barn dance will be provided by a darn tootin' group of young folk called Indian Wars, who by all accounts are a band who seem untouched by modern civilization...well apart from the fact that they've gone into a dapper recording studio, with mics and electricity and made a sterling effort. The majority of this record has a real "grab your sister who's actually your brother by the hand" feel to it. It's mostly uptempo, energetic stuff that dodges dirges with great gusto (OHHH!). It sounds really well recorded and the instruments are played with a lot of passion and fire. Each song sounds really good, and they all have manic energy that will not be contained by people like you, with yer mobile phones and yer goddam Pac-Man video games. Songs are dispensed with a load of southern style relish. There aren't any moping country style ballads on this record, it's all about the hick life, which seem to involve sitting naked in swamps and drinking "stubbies". My favourite track at the moment is "Bullfrog" which is as every bit as crazed as the rest of the record, yet somehow more so. For fans of The Bitter Tears and mebbe even "The Waltons". Anyway I've gotta get back to the office party...god Lavene the Oxford Sandy And Black is looking fine tonight...I wanna make a neat nest for her hoofs and suckle on her soft white underbelly... This album is a rather fine record that fans of bluegrass and hillbilly stomp will go rootin' an' a tootin' for...
