Neil Campbell rears his head once more with a collection of tongue-in-cheek cosmic techno jams on Sonic Oyster Tapes entitled 'Wheezy Paradise'. Recorded live at the Northumberland Arms in Newcastle back in May 2010, 'Wheezy Paradise' is a fine example of Campbell at his most impressive. It's a day-glo assault on the senses that encompasses his affection for multi-layered sonic tomfoolery, astral overkill and jarring distorted themes. Not got time to check out the whole show/tape (it's home time don't you know) but from what I've heard so far this is another highly effective if slightly mind boggling collection of sounds perfect for all you astralheads out there. Particularly enjoying the guitar work on this one. Ant's just popped his head round the corner and said, 'This sounds like Astral Social Club', and he'd be right.
Neil Campbell unleashes a seminal slice of full-on mutant techno ambient metal music: a psychedelic dawn-chorus with all-important critical beats, jarring, distorted electronic soup and a large dose of tongue-in-cheek.
This is fabulous, bonkers and guaranteed to put bird-song on the electro-map. What are you waiting for?
