The first instalment of this Turkish Freakout malarkey was a bit of a mind-bomb, the opening track had our jaws trailing on the floor. It was a truly inspirational, possessed piece of music that almost eclipsed the rest of the album, but not quite. This is some of the best "psych-folk" you'll hear - the exotic Turkish vibe running through these delectable archive songs is irresistible. There's constantly that unmistakable Eastern vein running through these songs which range from the playful to the funky to the sublimely weird. Like the Thai, Pakistan and Persian comps, there's wistful cinematic pop, airy percussive trip-outs like Sevil & Ayla's amazing 'Irgat', check out the ethno-cosmic soulful pieces and many seemingly traditional Turkish sounding numbers that somehow possess an unearthly amount of whacked-out psychedelic undercurrents, like the songs are filtered through an aural lava lamp and musical kaleidoscope before final mastering. There's a lot of this crate-diggers' dream stuff out there - the Finders Keepers of the world are to be commended - but this particular independent series (if it is to continue?) is truly out there on its own. There's again, like before, some total gems on here and if you were worried that volume one captured all the major tunes then I'm afraid to report you're wrong and you really need this lovingly compiled collection too!! Looks like there's deeper to dig yet!!

Last summer, Bouzouki Joe Records revealed a choice selection of some of the finest rare Turkish funk and psych-rock grooves, painstakingly unearthed direct from the source in Istanbul, with the result, in a good way, that a lot of folks freaked out. With that in mind, the second volume of ‘Turkish Freakout!’ features another batch of classic tracks from the Golden Age of Turkish music. With spiritual guidance from archivist Mister Jason, this compilation, comprised entirely of original 7” recordings from Turkey’s most creative and experimental artists, is guaranteed to deliver another five-star freak-out. Artwork includes many reproductions of original sleeves, plus extensive liner notes.TRACK LIST :    01. Afet Serenay - Yarim Gitti Cesmeye   02. Kerem Guney - Aglayi Aglayi   03.
