The Workhouse - The Coldroom Sessions

The Coldroom Sessions by The Workhouse

Originally formed in Oxford, The Workhouse are now London based. Famously described as "the new priest's of the cathedral of sound" by the NME, the band have released singles and albums on many labels. They have recorded sessions for John Peel, BBC 6 music, XFM the BBC World Service, and while they have toured infrequently, they have opened shows for Six By Seven, Explosions in the Sky and Doves.

Their new album, The Coldroom Sessions, is packed full of magnificently absorbing glissando sounds that appear to have arrived direct by Tardis from 4AD’s early catalogue – a little bit Cocteau Twins, a little bit Modern English – but with an attention to texture and dynamics that make it timeless. Guitars sparkle like diamonds over metronomic beats and tunes rise into tidal waves of dense, heavily-effected noise. Effortlessly majestic. Press by Stone Immaculate
