C Spencer Yeh/ Jon Wesseltoft - Northern Resonance I

Northern Resonance I by C Spencer Yeh/ Jon Wesseltoft

4...according to our on Thu 09 Jun, 2011.

C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) and Jon Wesseltoft (Tongues of Mount Meru, Maranata) are in the habit of getting together in Wesseltoft's native land of Norway and cutting live improvisations for the ears of the music listening public. You may already have come into contact with 'Northern Resonance Parts III/II', made available on vinyl courtesy of 8mm. Well, I guess this is the follow up (or prequel) to said LP and features many minutes of atonal drone not too dissimilar to the sound of bagpipes. Featuring C.S.Yeh on Violin and Wesselhoft on Harmonium, 'Northern Resonance I' plays on from where parts III & II left off with slightly anxious yet primarily peaceful string drones blasted into infinity.

In the winter of 2008 C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core) and Jon Wesseltoft (Tongues of Mount Meru, Maranata) would meet in Wesseltoft's native Norway to record the tracks, which comprise this tape. With Yeh on violin and Wesseltoft on harmonium the duo blazes through the northern sky unleashing a meditative eulogy to the Nordic gods of past, present and future. The reeds maintain the momentum while the strings wail in unison. Fans of Tony Conrad and Henry Flynt take note. Artwork by Lasse Marhaug!
