Bonnie Prince Billy - There Is No God

...Really? Well, millions of people across the Bible Belt are gonna be pissed. I thought about that song "What If God Was One Of Us" and thought this would fit into the same category. It's not as annoying as that other song about God. It's a rather upbeat number for Billy and as a song about God it does the business. The flip side sees a much more morose Oldham ruminating on lost love in a way that only Oldham can...i.e. it's proper depressing. It's got all the hallmarks of classic Oldham songsmithery. Haunting backing vocals, gently strummed/picked country style guitar and loads of heartbreaking imagery. It's classic Oldham. Buy this record or be struck down by God himself...
