A tasty slab of vinyl containing two BRAND NEW Brian Jonestown Massacre recordings.
Last week we tried to compile a list of people we've upset with our reviewing technique (ie. telling you the truth of what we think rather than rehashing press releases/praising everything to the skies). It's almost comforting to know that Anton Newcombe labelled our Phil a "grumpy fucking tit" following his so-so review of the underwhelming 'Who Killed Sgt Pepper' LP.
Thankfully Anton can rest easy tonight as this record is fucking excellent. The A side is your typically hazy blast of '60s inspired drone pop containing a lovely flute riff, strummy, intermeshing acoustic guitars and Anton singing in French. The B side is a cover of an old 1966 Bobby Jameson song and is a noisy, fuzzy blast of protest song mayhem.
Whatever their incarnation, Brian Jonestown at their best always sound like how the finest late '60s bands would sound if they'd been able to glimpse into the future to witness the noise spewing from your Sonic Youths and My Bloody Valentines.
The vinyl is limited to 1,000 units worldwide. This 10” single comes in with two new songs by the band & plays for over 8 minute Recorded in the old East German TV & Radio building , this 2 track single features Will Carruthers (ex Spacemen 3 , Spirtualized) , Constantine Karlis (Dimmer) , Friederike Bienert , Thibault Pesenti & Matt Hollywood . Iluminomi is a Newcombe composition , sung in French , There’s A War Going On written & originally sung by Bobby Jameson in 1966 from the album Songs of Protest and Anti-Protest.
A. Iluminomi
B. There’s A War Going On

Anyone reviewing Anton's material would do well to sneak a peek over their shoulder as they type - the bloke's almost omnipresent where reviews of his material is concerned. He even commented (favourably, thank fuck) on my review in my farty-little-read-only-by-my-family-blog http://www.funkygibbins.me.uk/....
So, what do you think? Best reviewer each month gets £10 off their next order!
